Makeup Doesn't Cover Everything!

Domestic Violence is something that is more common than a lot of us think. It happens to women in the United States every NINE SECONDS. Men are abused too, but statistically is not as much as women.
ACT is something that is dear to my heart. As a victim it's very hard to feel "normal". And when we don't feel "normal" it means those around us might feel the same way when in our presence.
It affects our children. A recent study found that school age children who witness violence exhibit a range of problem behaviors including depression, anxiety, and violence toward their peers.

Domestic violence can be defined as a pattern of behavior in any relationship that is used to gain or maintain power and control over an intimate partner.
Abuse is physical, sexual, emotional, economic or psychological actions or threats of actions that influence another person. This includes any behaviors that frighten, intimidate, terrorize, manipulate, hurt, humiliate, blame, injure or wound someone.
Domestic violence can happen to anyone of any race, age, sexual orientation, religion or gender. It can happen to couples who are married, living together or who are dating. Domestic violence affects people of all socioeconomic backgrounds and education levels.

If you have any questions about what each of the different types of violent relationships there are please check this site out: http://www.actabuse.com/dv/dv.html
I advise everyone to know what constitutes as abuse because it could be happening to you or someone you love.

I really enjoy putting on my What A Girl Wants Events and I love being able to give back to the women in my community. The service that I can do isn't enough to change their lives over completely, but it's a drop in the bucket and if we all put in a drop then we will have a full bucket!

I like to take my team down to Naples and do makeup for the ladies there. They really enjoy it and I get to talk to them and meet them. We talk about being women and makeup and fun stuff. No talk of abuse or anything negative. They share with me what they will, but I never pressure them to tell me anything. I want them to feel like they are special and deserve more than what they have or I can give.

Please contact me for more information on what you can do for your local ACT or Women's Shelter. I am always looking for makeup artists to come with me and play with makeup with these awesome women.

Share something below about your thoughts on violence.
Thanks!
